Gilmor Glassworks

GILMOR GLASS was founded in 1977 by John and Jan Gilmor. The combination of John's graduate school and teaching experience in sculpture and ceramics paired with Jan's background in the fine and performing arts has proved to be a wonderful match. Teamwork plays an integral part in the Gilmors' fresh approach to design. Their individual sensibilities join to produce elegant glass complementary to both traditional and contemporary decor.

Every step in the glassmaking process, from the melting of sand and other raw materials of which glass is composed to the design and execution of each piece, is done in the Gilmors' studio. The touch of the artist's hand is clearly recognizable in the subtle variations from piece to piece, distinguishing the Gilmors' designs from those mass-produced by machine.

Recognized internationally for its artistic accomplishments, the Gilmors' work has been featured in Colonial Homes, Architectural Digest, Food and Wine, Southern Living, Vogue, Gourmet, Country Living and American Craft magazines. John and Jan's first collaborative efforts toured America, London, Paris and Tokyo in the Corning Museum's prestigious "New Glass" exhibition. Subsequent designs by GILMOR GLASS can be found in discriminating shops and international collections including those of a number of American presidents.
